In the last 15 years April Parker has worked to grow the sport of swimming in the Nashville Public Schools. Both of April's children participated in club, summer league, and public school swimming before graduating from Hume-Fogg. In 2018 Skyler Findley joined HFA as the head coach and together April and Skyler have grown public school teams in six MNPS schools in addition to assisting swimmers in a variety of private schools in the Nashville area. In 2023 April and Skyler formed the non-profit Nashville School Swim Club with the purpose toencourage good physical and mental ability, sportsmanship, individual integrity, team play, and training for competition among athletes residing within a responsible distance of the club. The NSS operates as an umbrella organization providing support to school teams. The Nashville School Swim Club will support and foster the growth of swimming in the Nashville schools by providing resources and support for the formation and operation of new and existing swim teams.
Athletes will train with their individual school teams the majority of the time and will compete only for their school teams. The NSS exists as an umbrella to provide efficient and affordable management of multiple teams which allows room for smaller teams to grow and flourish.

Communication
Parents, please provide an email address that is regularly checked in order to stay up to date. Swimmers and parents will be copied on meet information. Check the team website for copies of forms, sign-ups, and updates. Parents will also receive a link to sign up for Slack for parents. Slack for parents is very important for our Middle School Swimmers.
The team captains use Slack to communicate via group text. All swimmers should provide a cell phone number if they have one.
Practice Schedule
Practices will be assigned according to swimmer age, school, and ability. Please see the website for specific areas of focus for each practice day. Practice will begin with assessments November 1-4. Practice will begin on November 6. The first meet is November 12.
Scheduled times are IN WATER times. Be prepared, dressed, and ready to jump in at the published practice time.
All training sessions are required unless noted below or excused by the Coach. Please let the coach know if something comes up after school and you are not going to be able to attend practice or a meet.
Divers Divers should contact Tim Jones (Middle TN Diving Program) for the cost of fees to practice and participate as a diver in Middle TN. MiddleTNDivingProgram@gmail.com615-714-8866
Equipment Swimmers will need to provide suits, towels, short fins, and goggles for practices. Links to required equipment can be found on the website. Meet suits, sportswear, and other equipment can be ordered from the SwimOutlet Team Store.
Snow Policy If school is cancelled, practice may also be cancelled. Look for communication from the coach. The coach may provide an optional workout for those that can make it to an area YMCA and want to practice on their own. Meets held outside of the MNPS schedule (private school opponents may still happen on snow days. Parents and swimmers may use your discretion on snow days but we ask that you communicate your plans to swim to April by text.
Swim Meets Meet sign ups are available about 10 days before the meet. Swimmers may sign up for two individual events and may be placed on two relays per standard meet guidelines. Coaching staff will determine meet entries. It is imperative that swimmers opt-out for meets if they are unable to attend, as they will be signed-up for events. It is assumed all swimmers will be participating in all swim meets unless discussed with the swim coach individually. We depend on all our swimmers to make up relays and provide a full composition of swimmers in a meet. Even though swimming is a club sport, we are still a team and rely on all our swimmers to be present at all our meets. If you signed up for a meet and cannot attend you must text April at 615.293.7025. If you commit to swimming at a meet you MUST attend or cancel your participation no less than 36 hours before the meet date.
Visit the team website for the meet schedule. Subscribe to the team calendar for the most up to date schedule.
Forms No student may begin training with the team until he/she has completed the online registration form. The link to the form can be found on the team website and in team emails.

Parent Participation The swim team relies on parent participation in a variety of ways. The team is required to provide at least four timers each meet (no experience required). The swimmers love snacks and gatorade at the meets. Some swimmers need rides to the meets. Swimmers love treat bags before meets. Sponsors for t-shirts and team travel are needed. And I am sure there are 100 other ways parents can help make the swim season great!
